What is Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)?

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment in which specially prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus during ovulation. This increases the chances of sperm reaching and fertilizing the egg naturally, without complex laboratory procedures.

IUI is often the first recommended step for mild infertility cases or for patients seeking a less invasive option before IVF. It may also be used with donor sperm or combined with mild ovarian stimulation treatments to improve success rates.

Your natural cycle or response to controlled ovarian stimulation will be monitored by ultrasound and hormonal testing to precisely identify ovulation timing.

Every treatment at Genesis follows a structured, personalised process designed to support you medically and emotionally at every stage. While each treatment has its own clinical steps, the journey always begins with understanding your individual needs and building a plan that gives you the best possible chance of success.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
Your doctor will assess your medical history, fertility background, and perform any necessary tests to determine if IUI is the right approach.
Your natural cycle or response to stimulation medication is monitored through ultrasounds and hormone testing to accurately identify the time of ovulation.
A semen sample is collected and processed in the lab to isolate the highest quality sperm for insemination. Donor sperm can also be used if applicable.
The prepared sperm is gently inserted into the uterus using a fine catheter. This is a quick and generally painless procedure.
Approximately two weeks after insemination, a blood test is done to check for pregnancy.
