Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive method used to directly evaluate the uterine cavity. The procedure allows the doctor to accurately observe the interior of the uterus and identify anatomical changes that may affect fertility or cause gynecological symptoms.
During hysteroscopy, a thin optical instrument — the hysteroscope — is gently inserted through the cervix into the uterus. It provides detailed images of the uterine lining and cavity structure, allowing detection of conditions such as endometrial polyps, submucosal fibroids, intrauterine adhesions (Asherman’s syndrome), or uterine septa.
For patients undergoing fertility evaluation or preparation for assisted reproduction treatments such as IVF, hysteroscopy plays an important role. By assessing and optimizing the uterine cavity, this procedure helps create ideal conditions for embryo implantation and a successful pregnancy.
At Genesis Athens, the procedure is performed safely using modern technology and advanced medical protocols. Recovery is short, and patients can quickly resume their normal daily activities.
